Gordon Frank Walker

April 2, 1947 — April 16, 2006

Gordon "Frank" Walker passed away on Easter Sunday evening at his home in Cleveland. He was taken to Bradley Memorial hospital where his passing was confirmed. He turned 59 on April 2; exactly two weeks before the Lord called him home. His legacy will live on through the ministries into which he poured his life. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school, was involved with the missions committee, and helped counsel; he was also a member of the Slavic Church of Cleveland. He was the director of the Children of Chernobyl Ministries of Cleveland, where he coordinated bringing children from Belarus to host families in Cleveland. Here they could receive medical care and learn about Christ, his true passion. He was an Assistant Professor of Accounting at Lee University, where he touched students lives for almost 12 years. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in December of 1969 with a Bachelors Degree in education; he received his MBA in Accounting in December of 1975. He passed the CPA exam and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1976. He was a veteran of the United States Army; he served in the Corps of Engineers and was honorably discharged in 1976 at the rank of Captain. He was saved at the age of 26 and began ministering at Mount Olive Baptist church in Knoxville, TN. Through this experience he felt called to preach and went on to receive his Masters of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in 1982; a few years ago, he completed a Doctorate of Practical Ministry via Trinity Theological Seminary in Indiana. Mr. Walker was the son of the late William Frank and Sarah Leonard Walker. He is survived by his wife Katheryn Ruth Tallent Walker of Cleveland; his children and their spouses: Sarah and Pete Cuison of Mill Valley, CA, Joshua and Lauren Walker of Cleveland, TN, and Caleb Walker of Cleveland; his two grandchildren: Leah and Benjamin Walker, both from Cleveland; his two brothers: James William "Bill" Walker and Charles "Chuck" Walker both of Memphis, TN; his two sisters: Margaret Lynn Caswell and Barbara McKenney and husband, Ed McKenney all of Memphis, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
