Biography
Virginia Clayton Greene, 86, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 16, 2010. A quiet, gentle wife, mother, and sister, she will be greatly missed by all knew and loved her.
Mrs. Greene was a life-long resident of Cleveland. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Glen W. Greene; and her parents, George S. Clayton and Marjorie Ledford Clayton.
She was a member of North Cleveland Baptist Church for many years and for the last several years she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cleveland and the Gleaners Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Greene is survived by her two children: Gary W. Greene (Dianne) of Cleveland and Debbie Watson (David) of Lookout Mountain; her grandchildren: April Perry (Tom) of Murfreesboro, Stephanie Pariani (Brian) of Houston, TX, Brent Greene (Kate) of Westminster, CO, Clay Watson (April) of Lookout Mountain and Katie Tipton (Taylor) of Arlington, VA. She was a loving great grandmother to six great granddaughters. She is also survived by her sisters, Patsy Carroll (Max) and Judy Hooper (DeWayne), all of Cleveland. Several nieces and nephews also survived.
A celebration of her life and home-going will be held Friday, February 19, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Jim Gibson and Morty Lloyd officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Clay Watson, Brent Greene, Tom Perry, Taylor Tipton, Lee Glover, David Carroll and John Carroll serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
Her family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
Mrs. Greene's family wishes to thank her caregivers at Garden Plaza of Cleveland for the loving care and kindness shown to her each and every day. Thank you also to Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving compassion and comfort.
