Biography

Mabel A. Norris, 85, a resident of Charleston, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010 in a local hospital. She was a member of Bellfounte Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Norris; parents, James D. and Minnie Millsaps Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Sue Johnson.

She is survived by her son, Phillip "Peanut" Johnson and Sheri Meres of Charleston, Carolyn Harris and husband, Jerry of Decatur and Joyce Holland and husband, Jackie of Courtland, VA; six grandchildren, Terry Johnson, Kelly Cheatham and husband, Wilford, Tanna Green and husband, Calvin, Missy Mathews and husband, Brent and Jerri Ann Harris, all of Bradley County and Billy Harris and wife, Beth of Meigs County; fourteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Flora Burris of Canton, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Lake Walker officiating. Internment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends on Friday, from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
