Biography

Steve Posey, 56, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009 in a local hospital. A native of Cleveland he was the son of the late Louis and Louella Swafford Posey. He attended Mt. Olive Church of God.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Willard Posey and Lonnie Posey.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janie Posey of Cleveland; sons, Tim Posey and wife, Stephanie and Terry Posey and wife, Amy, all of Cleveland; daughter, Melissa Phillips and husband, Jacen of Cleveland; six grandchildren who he loved so much, Justin Posey, Kaitlyn Posey, Lauren Posey, Blake Posey, Sammy Bain and Garrett Phillips, all of Cleveland; brothers, Cecil Posey and Bobby Posey, both of Cleveland; sister, Darlene Fields of Forest City, NC; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Church of God with Pastor Gary Sears officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Charles Blankinship, Jim Blankinship, Terry McGuire, Larry Parker, Ashley Parker and Matthew Parker serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
